Answer 1 : The role of the courtier is to analyzes the principal activities like warfare, cultural activities of various kinds, etc. through the prism of new ideals of behavior.

The focus on language use, especially through the medium of the joke, underlines the importance of urbane conversation to the courtier's identity.


Answer 2: He is suppose to facilitate his master's success, as he is the one who should deter his prince from the path of evil. The courtier must explain to the prince how to comport and be an ideal government.
