To solve this, we simply have to get the length and the width. Based from the graph, we can see that the length is connected by 2 points (-12, 2) and (6, 2) or (-20, -3) and (-2, -3). The height between the two lengths is 5 which can be counted manually.

We use the distance formula to calculate the length from either pair of points.

 

length^2 = [(-12 – 6)^2 + (2 – 2)^2]

length = 18

 

Therefore the area is:

Area = length * height

Area = 18 * 5

Area = 90
