client's insulin regimen, the client experiences episodes of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia, and 15 g of a simple sugar is prescribed. ANSWER: C) Increases blood glucose levels

EXPLANATION:

Hypoglycemia, also referred to as insulin reaction or insulin shock, is defined as abnormally low glucose in the blood (low blood sugar), usually below 70 mg/dL.

TREATMENT:

There are 3 ways of treating hypoglycemia in type 1 diabetes:

1. ORAL INTAKE OF GLUCOSE

The blood glucose can usually be raised to normal within minutes with 15–20 grams of carbohydrate.

2. INTRAVENOUS GLUCOSE

This is given when the patient cannot take orally eg unconsciousness.

3. GLUCAGON ADMINISTRATION

GLUCAGON is a hormone which antagonizes the effects of insulin.

It can be administered subcutaneously, Intramuscularly, or Intravenously. It causes release of stored glucose by a process called glycogenolysis.

Explain how physical and chemical properties influence the formation of ocean current and the distribution of marine life
Anna35 [415]

Answer:

The physical and chemical properties of seawater vary according to latitude, depth, nearness to land, and input of fresh water. Approximately 3.5 percent of seawater is composed of dissolved compounds, while the other 96.5 percent is pure water. The chemical composition of seawater reflects such processes as erosion of rock and sediments, volcanic activity, gas exchange with the atmosphere, the metabolic and breakdown products of organisms, and rain.

The following statements are all true regarding amino acids and proteins. Select which statements are unique to proteins alone a
Tomtit [17]

Answer:

The statement true of all proteins, carbohydrates and fats is that human body is able to synthesize them all.

The statement unique to proteins is that proteins are made up of instructions according to DNA.

Explanation:

Carbohydrates, Proteins and fats are macronutrients and required by body in larger amounts. All these macromolecules are made up of building blocks like proteins are from amino acids, carbohydrates from monosaccharides and fats from triglycerides. Human body can also synthesize these macronutrients. Like proteins can be synthesized by central dogma. Glucose can be synthesized by gluconeogenesis from glycogen and fats can be synthesized from acetyl-CoA and NADPH.

The proteins are made up by a process known as central dogma. The first step of central dogma is replication in which a replicated copy of DNA is produced in a cell. The second step is transcription for the production of messenger RNA from DNA. At last mRNA is used for the production of proteins on ribosomes.

Which of these statements would be true if the water molecule was linear instead of bent? Check all that apply.
zavuch27 [327]

If the water molecule was linear instead of bent, water would no longer produce hydrogen bonds. It will lose its polar properties and nearly all of its properties will change such as boiling point, water tension and solubility. It would be closer to gas, rather than liquid.
