To solve 1/8x = -5 , you will need to multiply both sides of the equation by 8. once you do that you will get the answer:

1/8x = -5

isolate the x, remember that what you do to one side, you do to the other (because of equal sign)
1/8x(8) = -5(8)

x = -5(8)

x = -40

Note: two positive numbers multiplied or divided = positive answer. One negative and one positive number multiplied or divided = negative answer. Two negative numbers multiplied or divided = positive answer

hope this helps

chubhunter [2.5K]

Answer:

A. 26

Step-by-step explanation: there is 16oz in every lb. so 16 X’s 7=112 now minus the 8ozs used. 112-8=104 oz’s left. The snack bags are 4 ozs so you Divide 4/104=26

The times of the runners in a marathon are normally distributed, with a mean of 3 hours and 50 minutes and a standard deviation
balu736 [363]

Answer: 0.16

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that the run times provided are normally distributed ;

Mean(x) of distribution = 3 hours 50 minutes

Standard deviation(s) = 30 minutes

The probability that a randomly selected runner has a time less than or equal to 3 hours 20 minutes

3 hours 20 minutes = (3 hrs 50 mins - 30 mins):

This is equivalent to :

[mean(x) - 1 standard deviation]

z 1 standard deviation within the mean = 0.84

z, 1 standard deviation outside the mean equals:

P(1 - z value , 1standard deviation within the mean)

1 - 0.8413 = 0.1587

= 0.16

7. Which property of polynomials says that the sum of two polynomials is also a polynomial?
vlabodo [156]

Answer:

Closure property

Step-by-step explanation:

The closure property of polynomials for addition says that, if we add any two polynomials , the result is also a polynomial.

For is

{x}^{2} + 2

is a polynomial.

x - 2

is also a polynomial.

The sum of the two polynomials is

{x}^{2} + 2 + x - 2 = {x}^{2} + x

The result:

{x}^{2} + x

is also a polynomial.
