Which contributes to the lack of evidence of the Period of Heavy Bombardment on Earth?

Biology

Weathering, plate movements, and volcanoes destroyed many of the craters. The factors contribute to the lack of evidence of heavy bombardment of earth. This evidence was subjected or, if not subjected, weathered; since Earth was and still is a "living" planet, meaning a planet with active plate tectonics and an active hydro/atmosphere. This activity is in contrast to the Moon, where plate tectonics stopped shortly after its formation and where a hydro-atmosphere could never form. Both because the Moon was simply too small to sustain plate tectonics and to keep volatility with him/her.

The given question is incomplete as the options are missing. The options are as follows-

(A) Earths vegetation

(B) The supply of oxygen

(C) Choice text

(D) Plate movements

Answer:

Option (D)

Explanation:

The period of heavy bombardment is commonly identified as the event of Late Heavy Bombardment, and it has taken place on earth about 4.1 to 3.8 billion years back. There was constant asteroid impact on the earth, that gave rise to the formation of the initial crust. During this time, the asteroid carried a lot of water into the earth, which were later vaporized and lead to the creation of the earth's atmosphere.

The evidence regarding the Late Heavy Bombardment on earth was eradicated due to the constant plate tectonic movement, which is responsible for the destruction and the formation of crust. This has been taking place since the formation of the earth.

Therefore, the plate tectonic activity has removed this evidences of past bombardment events.

Thus, the correct answer is option (D).

What makes a variation different from an adaptation? Use an example to explain.
Talja [164]

Answer:

A variation is different to an adaptation as a variation is a difference or variety inside a species, for example a different breed of dog such as a spaniel is a variety of the dog species, whereas an adaptation is a genetic mutation that has developed in order to help an animal survive, such as giraffes having a long neck. Adaptations continue throughout the species due to natural selection.
