The Romans education influenced by the classical Greek tradition. Roman children taught Greek literature, along with politics, cosmology, math, and religious beliefs but oration was the main subject. The only children to obtain a regular education were the children of the wealthy. Wealthy families taking the example of the Greek, employed a private tutor to teach their children. Poor children did not receive a formal education because of its expense.
