How did lincoln approach the issue of slavery in his speeches

Abraham Lincoln began his career in politics by proclaiming that he was a believer of anti-slavery. He felt that African Americans must enjoy the right to live free and enjoy the fruit of labor as any other American.

As a military strategy, he brought forth the Liberation Announcement of slaves but the proclamation did not immediately eliminate the slaves.  

It was the thirteenth Amendment which mandated that there be a complete abolition and elimination of slavery.
