The ''Yalta conference'' was held between the three World War II allies, the US, the British and the Soviet Union. The leaders representing the three states were the ''President Franklin D. Roosevelt'', the ''Prime Minister Winston Churchill'' and ''Premier Joseph Stalin'' respectively.

They had met to discuss about the post war future of Germany and Europe. At this conference, these leaders discussed many key points about the agreement and promised to follow through. One of these points was Stalin committing to allow ''free elections'' in Poland. But he did not keep his promise because he realized if he allowed free elections then that would result in non-communist governments.
