It might be argued that the Puritans demonstrate piety through their devotion to God by the use of the Bible and its content a long their lives. Courage might be associated to his religious escape being persecuted so they needed to keep them strong in order to survive. It could be said that piety gave them the values of courage and industry in order to keep on living. the bible said not to fear and work hard.
I disagree. When kids are bored they tend to do some things that their parents don't allow and/or don't like. From one of my past experiences, I did something I would wish I would not have done because of boredom.
