Answer:

Mr. O'neill buy 33 turkey slices.

Step-by-step explanation:

Firstly let us denote <em>amount of money spent on Cheese by the symbol C.</em>

<em>                                  amount of money spent on Turkey by the symbol T.</em>

<em>                                   amount of money spent on Wheat by the symbol W.</em>

Now we are the ratio of amount of money spent on cheese to the amount of money spent on turkey slices as 2:3 ;

       We can represent this as  \frac{C}{T} = \frac{2}{3}

The ratio of the amount of money spent on cheese to the amount of money spent on wheat rolls is 6:5 ;

        We can represent this as  \frac{C}{W} = \frac{6}{5}

Now we will make C also 6 in the first ratio to represent similarity in ratios i.e.     \frac{C}{T} = \frac{2 * 3}{3 * 3} = \frac{6}{9}

So, the ratio of amount of money spent on cheese to the amount of money spent on turkey slices to the amount of money spent on wheat rolls is represented by 6 : 9 : 5.

To find the amount of money spent on turkey slices = \frac{9}{6+9+5} * $55 = $24.75

Since cost of each turkey slice cost = $ 0.75

Therefore, Cost of each turkey slice * Number of turkey slices = Total amount of money spent on turkey slices

    $0.75 * Number of turkey slices = $24.75

Therefore, Number of turkey slices that Mr. O'neill buy = $24.75/$0.75

                                                                                            = 33 slices.

Two of the three sides of a triangle are 20 and 15. Which of the following numbers is not a possible perimeter of the triangle?
fgiga [73]
e. 72.

Let x be the measurement of the 3rd side.

x should be greater that the difference of 2 sides
x should be less than the sum of 2 sides

20 - 15 < x < 20 + 15
5 < x < 35

We can assume that x = 35 the maximum measurement of the 3rd side.

Perimeter = 20 + 15 + 35 = 70. Maximum perimeter.

Among the choices, 72 is beyond the maximum, so it is not a possible perimeter of the triangle.

A rectangular garden is to be constructed using a rock wall as one side of the garden and wire fencing for the other three sides
givi [52]

Answer:

x  =  28 m

y  =  14  m

A(max)  =  392 m²

Step-by-step explanation:

Rectangular garden    A (r ) =  x * y

Let´s call x the side of the rectangle to be constructed with a rock wall, then only one x side of the rectangle will be fencing with wire.

the perimeter of the rectangle is  p  =  2*x  +  2*y    ( but in this particular case only one side x will be fencing with wire

56   =   x    +  2*y      56   -  2*y  =  x

A(r)   =  ( 56  -  2*y ) * y

A(y ) =  56*y  -  2*y²

Tacking derivatives on both sides of the equation we get:

A´(y )  =  56  - 4 * y        A´(y) = 0     56  -  4*y  =  0    4*y  =  56

y =  14 m

and x  =  56  - 2*y    =  56 - 28  = 28 m

Then dimensions of the garden:

x  =  28 m

y  =  14  m

A(max)  =  392 m²

How do we know that the area we found is a local maximum??

We find the second derivative

A´´(y)  = - 4     A´´(y)  <  0   then the function A(y) has a local maximum at y = 14 m
