"He told the shopkeeper that he wanted to build cars" is the key phrase here.

There's no dialogue, just a description of part of the conversation. That is mainly the goal of the author in this excerpt: to show this conversation. That's why Amal searches for a book about cars and talks to the shopkeeper.

There's no theme being developed. The author is revealing something about the character. There's no dialogue, therefore it's not an example of a dialogue. And there's nothing about the setting, it is about the characters.

The correct answer is:

C.This is an example of the writer telling through description rather than showing through dialogue

I believe it is the introduction which should be relatively brief. You shouldn't prolong it too much, because the emphasis should be put on the main part of your speech, and not so much on the introduction.

Trava [24]
Your answer would be D) Simile.
This is because the clause compares the loneliness to a cloud, and similes are used to compare things, like "The food was as hot as the sun" or "The school was like a zoo".

I hope this helps!

1. In my opinion, the best answer is B. "...the umbrella is too fine, too delicate and lovely an article for water to be allowed to ruin it." It really undermines the definition and use for an umbrella, inverting its function: it actually wasn't meant to protect us from rain, but to be fine, delicate, lovely, and protected from rain itself.

2. I think the correct answer is C. The phrase "bound Hand and Foot" emphasizes the seriousness of the danger. This phrase is the most relevant choice, as well as its explanation. It is not so important that some of the villagers cooperated, or that there was no technology. As for the last option, it isn't true, as the accused were treated the same way as the accusers.
