It is true that Adolf Hitler of Nazi Germany  and Benito Mussolini of Italy headed two of the Axis powers of World War II.  

They were both vital and indispensable military figures during the World War II. In the beginning, the Axis was created due to the signing of the Triparticle Pact of 1941 and pursued a militarist and nationalist ideology blended with an anti-communism policy. Thirdly, after losing 6 million of their people during the Holocaust, the survivors felt a need to leave Europe and join forces in a land where they would not be slaughtered en masse; their Holy Land seemed like a good choice at the time.
