First, summarize what is happening in the story. A country mouse invites his city mouse friend for dinner. The city mouse does not enjoy his dinner, so he invites the country mouse to his house. They cant eat because they are constantly in danger.

In terms of the metaphorical meaning the choices seem to be very similar and yet it seems difficult to choose between them because of man's inability to choose between two paths and then not wondering what the other had in store.
