Geographic isolation of a group of organisms eventually stops gene flow from other groups of same species. Thus isolated group evolves by accumulating new mutations not to be found in members of related groups.

Geographic isolation contribute to evolution in many ways. First it stops gene flow between different sub populations. Mating can only happen in this specific gene pool. Second new mutation may appear and act as an unique identity of the gene pool. Eventually the sub population would become very different from the original group. Thus, this prevents them from mating with the original group again.

The red dots are salt. What type of solution is this cell in, and in which direction will
Leto [7]

Answer:

A) hypertonic, out of the cell.

Explanation:

When cells are exposed to high levels of salt (sodium chloride) they lose water by osmosis and shrink. The cytoplasm condenses and the movement of cellular components, such as the cytoskeleton and organelles, stops. Cells adapt to high salt by quickly importing salt in order to attract water and regain volume, at the expense of increased salt concentration. Unlike cell volume, the movements of cellular components are slow to recover and, depending on the dose of salt, may not recover fully.

What is antigen? What does it include? What is its function?
Varvara68 [4.7K]

Antigens are proteins that are found on the surface of the pathogen and are viruses, fungi, or bacteria. Nonliving substances such as toxins, chemicals, drugs, and foreign particles.  Antigens are usually carried by proteins and polysaccharides, and less frequently, lipids but it also needs to be attached to a large carrier molecule which is usually a protein.  When an antigen enters the body, the immune system produces antibodies against it. The Antigen stimulates the immune system to produce antibodies. YOUR WELCOME ;)
