(05.05 LC) In what way was the Constitution of the United States a product of the Enlightenment?
QveST [7]

The correct answer is the following: option A. It can be said the the Constitution of the United States is a product of the Enlightenment as it was built upon the ideas of limiting government power and supporting individual rights.

The Enlightenment was a philosophical, political and cultural movement that happened between 1685 and 1815 throughout the main nations of Europe. Is thinkers were famously known for questioning traditional authority and for believing in rational thinking.

The US Constitution was signed on September 17th in 1787 during the Philadelphia Convention. Its main objective was to write down the foundation in which the nation would be built upon. It's writers were influenced by Enlightenment thinkers such as Montesquieu, Beccara, Rousseau and Voltaire, who believed that people should have the power to choose their leaders, that the government should have limited power and the system of check and balances, they also believed that every individual had the right to profess its desired religion without fear. All of these thought and principles are found throughout the US constitution and became the principal values of the American government.
