The United States became an empire in 1945. It is true that in the Spanish-American War, the United States intentionally took control of the Philippines and Cuba. It is also true that it began thinking of itself as an empire, but it really was not.

What piece of legislation stated that slavery was banned north of the 36’30 and south of the 36’30 slavery would be allowed
Gekata [30.6K]

The Missouri Compromise of 1820 established the latitude 36°30′ as the northern limit for slavery to be legal in the territories of the west.

Explanation:

  • The Missouri Compromise, as it was known, would remain in impact for just over 30 years till the Kansas-Nebraska act of 1854 revoked it.
  • In 1857, the Supreme Court in Dred Scott's case found the agreement unconstitutional, setting the stage for the nation's final journey through the Civil War.
  • In 1820, while growing sectional tensions over the slavery issue, the U.S. Congress passed a law welcoming Missouri to the Union as a captive state and free state.

Why did white people make make the n word and why are they now not allowed to use it
yawa3891 [41]

The n-word originated in the eighteenth century, and it was used as a derogatory slur against African American slaves. The slave masters called their slaves the n-word. Black people reclaimed this word as their own and use it (the n-word without the hard er ending) as a way to address their friends. By using it in this manner, they're taking away the power it has over them as a slur. Also, there is no equivalent of the n-word for White people. No word could give White people the same history of enslavement or trauma that Black people endured back then.

Why are yesterdays heroes still important today? (It's supposed to be about people in the military who served in Iraq)
mafiozo [28]
Well in the past after 911 we had to go into Iraq to maintain peace and order for both the people who reside there and the rest of the world to try to control terrorism and dictatorships from using weapons of mass destruction , for example Saddam Hussain , & Gadaffi. Today it is needed now more than ever due to the escalated amount of terrorists attacks reoccurring and terror cells sich as ISIS located in many Middle Eastern countries such as Iraq.
