Answer:

x=+10i,-10i,\sqrt{5} ,-\sqrt{5}

Step-by-step explanation:

x^4 + 95x^2 -500 = 0

REwrite the equation in the form of quadratic equation ax^2+bx+c=0

To solve for x , we replace x^2 by 'u'

u^2 + 95u -500 = 0

Now we factor the left hand side

Product is -500 and sum is 95

100 times -5 is -500

100 + (-5) is 95, factors are 100 and -5

u^2 + 95u -500 = 0

(u+100)(u-5) = 0

Replace u with x^2

(x^2+100)(x^2-5) = 0

Set each factor =0 and solve for x

x^2+100= 0, x^2=-100

x^2-5= 0, x^2=5

To remove square , take square root on both sides

square root (-1) is 'i'

x^2=-100, x= +-10i

x^2=5, x=+-\sqrt{5}

Derek and Mia place two green marbles and one yellow marble in a bag. Somebody picks a marble out of the bag without looking and
Ahat [919]

Step-by-step explanation:

With each draw, the probability of selecting a green marble is 2/3 and the probability of selecting a yellow marble is 1/3.

To pick two of the the same color, they can either pick green twice or yellow twice.

P = (2/3)(2/3) + (1/3)(1/3)

P = 5/9

To pick two different colors, they can either pick green first then yellow, or yellow first then green.

P = (2/3)(1/3) + (1/3)(2/3)

P = 4/9

Expected value for Derek is:

D = (5/9)(-1) + (4/9)(1)

D = -1/9

The expected value for Mia is:

M = (5/9)(1) + (4/9)(-1)

M = 1/9

The points (2,r) and (5,-1) lie on a line with slope 4. what is r
Andrews [41]

Answer:

R=-13

Step-by-step explanation:

S=-1-r/5-2

4=-1-r/3

Cross multiply

4*3=-1-r

12=-1-r

Collect like terms

12+1=-r

-r=13

Divide both sides by -

he pulse rates of 179 randomly selected adult males vary from a low of 43 bpm to a high of 115 bpm. Find the minimum sample size
malfutka [58]

Answer:

97

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that:

Low = 43bpm

High = 115 bpm

Error = 3

α = 90%

To find the range estimate :

Standard destviation = (high - low) / 4

Standard deviation = (115 - 43) / 4

Standard deviation = 72/4 = 18

The sample size,(n) :

n = [(Zα/2 * sd)/E] ²

2 - tail = (Zα/2) = 1.645

[(Zα/2 * sd)/E] ² = [(1.645 * 18) / 3]² = (29.61/3)²

= 97.41

Sample size = 97

EMERGENCY, EMERGENCY, I WILL GIVE BRAINLIEST
AlekseyPX
First you must distribute the 1/4 to get
: 1/2x^2-3=15
then you have to add three to both sides so it become
: 1/2x^2=18
then divide by 1/2 to get
:x^2 =36
then take the square root to get a final answer of
:x=6
