A manufacturer can produce digital recorders at a cost of 50 dollars each. It is estimated that if the recorders are sold for p

dollars apiece, consumers will buy q=120p recorders each month. a) Express the manufacturer's profit P as a function of q.
b)What is the average rate of profit obtained as the level of production increases from q=0 to q=15? (at dollars per unit)
c) At what rate is profit changing when q=15 recorders are produced? (at dollars per unit)

Answer:

a. P(q) = 70q - q²

b. Average rate of Profit = 55

c. Rate of profit changing = 40 units per dollar

Step-by-step explanation:

a.

Recall that Profit = Revenue - Cost

Cost Preorder = $50

So, cost = 50q.

Since p is the revenue price for 1 unit,

We get that the revenue which is retail price per unit.

So, revenue = pq

Recall that q = 120-p ------ make p the subject of formula

p = 120-q

So, Revenue = (120-q) * q =

Profit = Revenue - cost

The Equation of profit P, in terms of q is given by

P(q) = (120 - q)q - 50q

P(q) = 120q - q² - 50q.

P(q) = 70q - q²

b.

At q = 0, P(q) = 0

At q = 15

P(q) = (120-15)15 - 50*15

P(q) = 105*15-50*15

P(q) = 825

Average Rate of change = ∆Profit/∆Quantity

Average Rate of change = (825-0)/(15-0)

Average Rate of change = 55

c.

To calculate the rate of Profit change, we need to use the limit definition to find the derivative of

P(q) = 70 - q²

Limit definition of the derivative = Lim h->0 ( f(x+h) - f(x) ) / h

Substitute the value la of p(q) and p(q+h) in the above

P'(q)Lim h->0 = (P(q+h) - P(q) )/ h

P'(q)Lim h->0 =( [70(q+h) - (q+h)²] - [70q - q²] ) / h

P'(q)Lim h->0 = (70q + 70h - q² - 2qh - h² - 70q + q²)/h

P'(q)Lim h->0 = (70h - 2qh - h²)/h

P'(q)Lim h->0 = 70 - 2q - h

= 70 - 2q - (0)

= 70 - 2q

When q = 15

70 - 2(q) becomes

= 70 - 2(15)

= 70 - 30

= 40 units per dollar

On Monday, a museum had 400 visitors. On Tuesday, it had 780 visitors. Estimate the percent change in the number of visitors t
11Alexandr11 [23.1K]

Alright, lets get started.

Numbers of visitors on Monday = 400

Numbers of visitors on Tuesday = 780

So, percentage change = \frac{780-400}{400}*100

So, percentage change  = \frac{380}{400} *100

So, percentage change = 95 %    :    Answer

If same estimated percentage increase on next day also, means on Wednesday, the number of visitor will be = 780+ 780*95%

So,number of visitors on Wednesday = 780 + 741

Number of visitors on Wednesday = 1521     :    Answer

How many 2/3's are in 1?
PSYCHO15rus [73]
Well 1 could be anything you want it to equal to so . if your using thirds 2/3 can fit into one once because if you do it twice you’d get 4/3 and that’s over 1

Definition of mean, mode and average
Naya [18.7K]
I'm pretty sure that mean and average both mean(pun not intended) the total value of the data divided by the number of values, giving you an average.
Mode is the value that is repeated most often. For example, if your data set is 1, 3, 4, 2, 2 the mode is 2 because it is repeated twice. If there was another 3, 4, or 1 then the mode would be both values, as they both were repeated the most often.

Hope this helped :)

mario62 [17]

The mean of 10 randomly selected students is definitely more likely to be closer to 75. 10 randomly selected students to include information and are more like to reflect the class’s scores. Consider an extreme example. Seventy-five students in a class of 100 earned perfect scores. The other 25 earned zeros. The average score of the class would be 75. A sample of 10 random students would almost certainly include more 100s then 0s, but both would be included in the sample. The mean of this samples score is closer to 75 than any individuals.
