Answer:

The correct answer is:

facilitated diffusion (c)

Explanation:

Facilitated diffusion is an assisted transport mechanism where molecules move from areas of higher concentration to areas of lower concentration across a membrane with the help of transport proteins. Molecules that are too big or polar, and cannot cross the hydrophobic lipid bi-layer membrane into the cells are aided (facilitated) through, with the help of transporter proteins, example is permease. Example of molecules that are transported this way is glucose, sodium ions, and chloride ions.

Unlike active transport, this mode of transport does not utilize energy directly from ATP to help transportation, but instead, relies on the interaction between the molecule and the transport protein, where the molecule binds to the transport protein, causing it to change its shape and permit the inward movement of the molecules into the cell. Also, since the movement is down the concentration gradient (higher to lower concentration), energy is not required.

Facilitated diffusion is similar to simple diffusion, but unlike simple diffusion which does not require any specialized media/channels for transportation, it does, and it is saturable with respect to the concentration difference of the substance unlike simple diffusion that has a linear saturation.

Active transport on the other hand, although also requires  transport channel, also use energy directly to enhance transportation, and it is sometimes against the transportation gradient.

Answer: The correct answer is option C

FACILITATED DIFFUSION.

Explanation: FACILITATED DIFFUSION is a form of passive transport,it is the process by which substances(molecules) move from a region of higher concentration to a region if lower concentration along their concentration gradient through the help of a membrane transporter forming a pore or channel(Protein).

Facilitated diffusion dies not require high energy to occur since a concentration gradient is involved.

How is nitrogen from the atmosphere the abiotic part of the ecosystem converted in to the biotic part of the ecosystem in organi
AveGali [126]

Solution:

Nitrogen is important because, it helps us grow crops, and it produces grass for animal. It comes from lightning and is named nitrogen fixation

By which free nitrogen (N2) is extracted from the atmosphere and converted (fixed) into nitrogen compounds which are plant nutrients (fertilizer). In nature, this process is carried out by certain bacteria (present in the root nodules of legumes such as beans and peas), blue-green algae, and the lightning flash.

Thus the Nitrogen form the atmosphere the biotic part to the ecosystem converted into the biotic part.

Give an example of how an organism can use surface tension?
aliya0001 [1]
Insects, such as water striders, and spiders, such as fisher spiders, can glide or scamper across the surface of water. These critters are small enough that their weight can be supported almost entirely by surface tension, the relatively weak forces that hold water molecules together.

Surface tension of water helps creatures(mostly of insecta class such as water striders) to walk on water. ... it also helps water to move up the xylem tissue of higher plants without breaking up

kompoz [17]

Answer:

This is technology.

Explanation:

Generally both science and technology are instrumental to emergence of developed humanity and the environment. Why science is concerned with  the emergence of knowledge, the manoeuvre and the  practical application of  the knowledge for innovations to change and improve the world around is called Technology.

The application of technology for improvement of humanity has wide application. From Healthcare in genetic engineering,Biomedical sciences, telemedcine, robotic surgery,to Agriculture to boost food production, cloning of crops and animals and production of pest and herbicide  resistant  products.

In construction for roads, and building of houses, fitted with AC and FAN for maximum comfort

Besides the application in field of engineering for power generation in petroleum, communication, entertainment, printing, warfare and transportation are few of  other means where technology has improved humanity

Many human genes are known to have homologs in the mouse genome. One approach to investigating human hereditary disease is to pr
AURORKA [14]

Answer:

Part A....B

Part B....C

Explanation:

It should be understood that Mice are always first used to clinical test especially for drugs or other things that are supposed to be for human use, this is because Mice and human genetic disorders have arisen from conserved and related evolutionary processes. Therefore, when the clinical trial or test produces a positive result in the Mice, it is almost certain that the result will be the same in human.

Now in part B. When the result result is different, it might be because of the differences in anatomy and physiology might hide or change development and symptoms of disease. And that is the reason why, the result of a particular drug differs from person to person.
