Answer:

0.33 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

From the diagram, triangle ACE is similar to triangle BCD.

Therefore,

\frac{b}{30+b} = \frac{6}{a}

a=\frac{6(30+b)}{b}

Let the Length of the Ladder, L

Using Pythagoras theorem

L^{2}=(30+b)^{2}+(\frac{6(30+b)}{b})^{2}

L^{2}=\frac{(30+b)^{2}(36+b^{2})}{b^{2}}

L=\sqrt{\frac{(30+b)^{2}(36+b^{2})}{b^{2}} }

L=\frac{30+b}{b}\sqrt{b^2+36}

To find the least value, we have to equate the derivative of L to 0.

L^{1}=\frac{b^{3}-1080}{b^{2}\sqrt{b^2+36}}

Therefore:

b³-1080=0

b³=1080

b=10.26

The minimum length of the ladder is:

L=\frac{30+10.26}{10.26}\sqrt{10.26^2+36}

=0.33 ft

g(-2) + g(2) = 22

Step-by-step explanation:

For x = -2, g(x) = x^2 - 3x

or

g(-2) = (-2)^2 - 3(-2) = 4 + 6 = 10

For x = 2, g(x) = 12, therefore

g(-2) + g(2) = 10 + 12 = 22

How many hours are there in ten quarters of an hour?
svlad2 [7]

Answer:

2 1/2 hours

What is the solution of the system of equations? <br> y = –2x + 8 <br> y = x – 4
12345 [234]
<span>y = –2x + 8
y = x – 4

We can use substitution.
-2x+8 = x-4
3x=12
x=12/3
x=4

</span>y = x – 4
<span>y=4-4=0
y=0

Solution of the system x=4,y=0,
it can be written as (4,0).
