Answer: Graph of lines y equals 2 x plus 3 and y equals minus x plus 6. Lines intersect at ordered pair (1, 5)

Step-by-step explanation:

Here x represents the miles walked by Jacob and y represents the miles for which Jacob cycled.

Thus, the total distance covered by Jacob = x + y

But according to the question,

The total number of miles Jacob walked and cycled was 6 miles.

Therefore,  x + y = 6  -------(1)

Also, The number of miles Jacob cycled was 3 miles more than twice the number of miles he walked.

That is, y = 2x + 3 ----------(2)

subtracting equation (2) from equation (1),

We get,

x = 6 - 2x - 3

⇒ x+2x = 6-3   ( by adding 2x both sides)

⇒ 3 x = 3

⇒ x = 1

Put the value of x in equation (1)

We get y = 5

Thus, Jacob walked 1 miles

And, he cycled 5 miles.

Kamal wrote the augmented matrix below to represent a system of equations
ra1l [238]

Consider the operation is R_2\to -3R_2.

Given:

The augmented matrix below represents a system of equations.

\left[\left.\begin{matrix}1&0&1\\1&3&-1\\3&2&0\end{matrix}\right|\begin{matrix}-1\\-9\\-2\end{matrix}\right]

To find:

Matrix results from the operation R_2\to -3R_2.

Step-by-step explanation:

We have,

\left[\left.\begin{matrix}1&0&1\\1&3&-1\\3&2&0\end{matrix}\right|\begin{matrix}-1\\-9\\-2\end{matrix}\right]

After applying R_2\to -3R_2, we get

\left[\left.\begin{matrix}1&0&1\\-3(1)&-3(3)&-3(-1)\\3&2&0\end{matrix}\right|\begin{matrix}-1\\-3(-9)\\-2\end{matrix}\right]

\left[\left.\begin{matrix}1&0&1\\-3&-9&3\\3&2&0\end{matrix}\right|\begin{matrix}-1\\27\\-2\end{matrix}\right]

Therefore, the correct option is A.
