Answer:

A central idea in Mandela’s inaugural speech is his hope for South Africans to unite and create a new and just society. He develops this central idea in the first few paragraphs by repeating words and ideas about humanity and rebirth. For example, he asks his audience to “consider humanity’s belief in justice,” and says that a society must be “born of which all humanity will be proud.”

Answer:

In Nelson Mandela's inaugural speech he presents to his people, one of the most significant central ideas that is portrayed through his words include how he believes in the renewal of the country through unity in the people. During his speech, he mentions that, "Out of the experience of an extraordinary human disaster that lasted too long, must be born a society of which all humanity will be proud." When Mandela says this, he causes the audience to look back on the tragedies that the country has faced. Mandela then expresses that after such a tragedy, the people must come together to create a society in which there is no division.   He also mentions that, "The moment to bridge the chasms that divide us has come." Mandela wants the country to come together to fill the gaps that divide the country. He calls out to the people to put aside their differences to rebuild the country so that everyone may live in peace and tranquility in one unified country.   Throughout his entire speech, he inspires the people of South Africa to unite together so that one country may consist of a society that works to benefit others.

Burka [1]

Answer:

C. Write whatever your thoughts are in no particular order.

Explanation:

Free- writing is the manner or form of writing where the writer or author is free to write whatever he/ she wants. The topic, pattern, or anything related t the work is all dependent on the author and is not dictated by any form of guidelines or set of rules to be followed. The freedom to write his thoughts, in whatever pattern and order he wants, and even maybe dealing with personal or fictional stories, are all part of what the free writing entails. The very word "free writing" is proof of the form of writing that it is about. Everything is all up to the one who is to write the work, with no form or rule to be followed or adopted.

Pick out the transitive and intransitive verbs in the following sentences.
patriot [66]

A transitive verb is a type of verb which needs an object in order to perform an action. Example: <u>"Cynthia bought a bag from Elizabeth".</u> Here, "Elizabeth" is the object.

An intransitive verb is a type of verb which has no receiver of action in the sentence. In other words, it does not have a direct object.

Example include: "The dog ran over the hill"

An object of a sentence is the receiver of action in that sentence.

Therefore, the transitive verbs are:

  1. Alex teaches us English
  2. The fox jumped into the well

Likewise, the transitive verbs are:

  1. Allah loves us all.
  2. We get up early in the morning.
  3. Ice floats on water.

Read this excerpt from "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty."
Anna [14]

Hello. You forgot the answer options. The options are:

It creates sympathy for Mitty since readers recognize that his fantasies show how he'd like to be, not how he actually is.

It builds suspense in the story, as each of Mitty's fantasies places him in more and more danger in reality.

It injects tension in the story, as readers wait to see whether Mitty's wife will realize that her husband is unhappy.

It adds humor to the story, since Mitty acts out all of his fantasies among people who have no idea what he's doing.

Answer:

It creates sympathy for Mitty since readers recognize that his fantasies show how he'd like to be, not how he actually is.

Explanation:

"The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" that tells the story of Mitty, who is a man who disconnects himself from the reality in which he lives, constantly, and finds himself trapped in heroic daydreams totally outside the reality in which he is inserted. Although this is not valued by the characters in the book, it does create an empathy between the bed and Mitty. This is because the reader understands that Mitty's daydreams are a reflection of his dissatisfaction with the real world, thus, the daydreams he presents, are a vision of what he wanted to be.
