Lithosphere: the name lithosphere comes  from the greek words lithos ,meaning rocky  and spheaerous ,meaning sphere.

The lithosphere is the moving part of the surface of earth planet.it it consist of the continental crust ,oceanic crust and the uper part of the mentle ,called asthenosphere .It is bounded by atmosphere from above and asthenosphere below.

<h3>charcteristics: </h3>

The uppermost part is crispy, and it is present where brittle deformation happens, like faults, and damage from earthquakes. The lower part is warmer ,things get hotter going towards the interior of the planet, and this is where ductile deformation happens, like folding of rocks. The movement is steered by convection in the mantle, which helps push some tectonic plates together, while separating others.

The lithosphere is very important because we humans live here, and we have to interact with it for survival . Movement of the lithosphere is essential because it provides us land to live on. Without tectonic uplift, erosion would have long since wiped out all dry land, and we would not be here.
