Pistachios make up \frac{1}{6}

almonds make up \frac{1}{3}

cashews make up \frac{1}{2}

Batch 1:

1 cup in pistachios( (which is 1/6) which means there are 5 other cups )and 2 cups in almonds so that leaves \frac{3}{6} or \frac{1}{2} left so the answer is 3 cashews

Answer=3 cups of cashews

-----------------------------------------------------

Batch 2:

1 cup of cashews which makes up \frac{1}{2}or \frac{3}{6} of the batch and there are \frac{2}{3} of a cup of almonds so that leaves only \frac{1}{3} or \frac{2}{6} as the only option left

Answer= \frac{2}{6} of pistachios

----------------------------------------------------

Batch 3:

\frac{4}{6} is the amount of pistachios and it makes up \frac{1}{6} of the batch which means that there are six \frac{4}{6} but cashews always make up \frac{1}{2} so you get \frac{12}{6} which is equivalent to two so that leaves two \frac{4}{6} which you add and that makes \frac{8}{6} which is equivalent to 1 \frac{2}{6} or 1 \frac{1}{3}

Your answer:

There is \frac{4}{6} pistachios

There is 1 \frac{1}{3} of almonds

There is 2 cups of cashews

--------------------------

Second problem for pencils

There is a total of 36 pencils

20 are sharpened

So that leaves 20:16

divide each side by 4

That leaves 5:4

Question The Not First One
20 sharpened to ?unsharpened and the total is 36
20+X=36
subtract 20 from both sides
X=16
the ratio is
20:16
or
5:4 (D)

Question The Other One

The ratio is
1/6 (pistachios) to 1/3 (almonds) to 1/2 (cashews)
Batch 1
1 (pistachios) 2 (Almonds) ?
? P, 2/3 A, 1 C
4/3 P, ?A, ?C

First, I will find the total amount for all of them

Batch 1- 1 is 1/6 of the full thing so the full thing is 6
Batch 2- 1 is 1/2 if the full so the full is 2
Batch 3- 4/6 is 1/6 of the totals amount so the full is 4

Batch 1- The answer is 3
Batch 2- The answer is 1/3 or 2/6
Batch 3 Almonds- 1  1/3
Batch 3 Cashews- 2

Type the correct answer in the box. Round your answer to the hundredth.
sesenic [268]

Answer:

Approximately 22.97 years

Step-by-step explanation:

Use the equation for continuously compounded interest, which uses the exponential base "e":

A=P e^{k*t}

Where P is the principal (initial amount of the deposit - unknown in our case)

A is the accrued value (value accumulated after interest is compounded), in our case it is not a given value but we know that it triples the original deposit (principal) so we write it as: 3 P (three times the principal)

k is the interest rate : 5% which translates into 0.05

and t is the time in the savings account to triple its value (what we need to find)

The formula becomes:

3P = P e^{0.05 * t}

To solve for "t" we divide both sides of the equation by P (notice it cancels P everywhere), and then to solve for the exponent "t" we use the natural logarithm function:

\frac{3P}{P} = \frac{P}{P}  e^{0.05 * t}

3 = e^{0.05 * t}

ln(3) = 0.05 * t

t = \frac{ln(3)}{0.05} = 21.972245... years

You have 42 ft. of fencing (1 ft. segments) to make a rectangular garden. How much should each side be to maximize your total ar
Verizon [17]

Answer:

Length=10.5\ ft

Width=10.5\ ft

Area=110.25\ ft^{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

x----> the length of the rectangular garden

y---> the width of the rectangular garden

we know that

The perimeter of the rectangle is equal to

P=2(x+y)

we have

P=42\ ft

so

42=2(x+y)

simplify

21=(x+y)

y=21-x------> equation A

Remember that the area of rectangle is equal to

A=xy ----> equation B

substitute equation A in equation B

A=x(21-x)

A=21x-x^{2}----> this is a vertical parabola open downward

The vertex is a maximum

The y-coordinate of the vertex is the maximum area

The x-coordinate of the vertex is the length side of the rectangle that maximize the area

using a graphing tool

The vertex is the point (10.5,110.25)

see the attached figure

so

x=10.5\ ft

Find the value of y

y=21-10.5=10.5\ ft

The garden is a square

the area is equal to

A=(10.5)(10.5)=110.25\ ft^{2} ----> is equal to the y-coordinate of the vertex is correct
