Answer: B. The notion that one's misdeeds cannot go unnoticed

Explanation:

The Great Gatsby is a 1925 novel written by F.Scott Fitzgerald. Set in 1922, it explores the society and its values during the Roaring twenties.

The eyes of Doctor J. Eckleburg are a pair of fading eyes painted on a billboard. These unblinking eyes stare down at everything that happens in the valley of ashes. Although there are many possible interpretations of this symbol, the most persuasive for the readers is probably that these eyes represent the eyes of God, who is observing all the misdeeds that the characters do. In the novel, the characters care about living in luxurious houses and wearing expensive clothes - especially those from the East Egg. Through this symbol, Fitzgerald obviously criticizes people's lost connection with certain moral values.

mrs_skeptik [129]

Banquo's ghost appears in act 3, scene 4, and sits down in Macbeth's place. The fact that Banquo's ghost chooses to sit in the king's seat is significant because it foreshadows how Banquo's descendants will inherit the throne, as the witches predicted.
