Explain how technological innovations have led to discoveries about King Tut's death. Describe how technology led the authors to
mote1985 [20]

Answer:

Before his death, Genghis Khan had already started to rely on family members and highly placed generals to rule a great deal of territory. Following his death, Mongolia continued to rule over the Golden Horde, the Central Asian Jagadai domains, and the Il-khans of Iran. The unity of the Mongol Empire began to disintegrate when several branches refused to accept Khubilai as the Grand Khan, and he subsequently established the Yuan reign in China. Central Asia's adherence to the Jagadai traditions and Turkic culture led to hatred of the Yuan Empire, which subsequently asserted itself over China and Vietnam (Annam). The Golden Horde remained predominant in Russia and tolerated the Orthodox Church. In some historians' opinion, Alexander Nevskii's alliance with the Golden Horde in return for religious toleration preserved the "Russian-ness" of the church; thus Russia repelled the Teutonic Knights. There was rivalry between the Golden Horde's Muslim leaders and the Il-khans, which had overthrown the Abbasid Caliphate in 1258, but it was mostly political rather than religious rivalry, and the Il-khan leader Ghazan became a Muslim in 1295. In general, there was little connection between religion and feuding branches of Mongol descendants, and rivalries were based on politics rather than religion.

Answer:

C.) While both the Ottoman Empire and Western European states relied heavily on forced conversions to expand and maintain their empires, the Ottoman Empire remained more religiously tolerant than the Western European empires.

Explanation:

I got this question right on the first try. Here's why I knew it was C. You would need to have some knowledge about the Ottoman Empire's role of religion. I don't know if it says in the passage, so if you do find it, then give me a heads up. Remember, how did the Ottoman Empire treat the minorities? Did they force persecution/conversion to Islam? Well, not really. Although they did develop the devshirme system, it was kinda of a force conversion because the children had to give up their Christian belief, but it was seen as an opportunity. They weren't punished, so answer A is not right. So they did practice religious tolerance. Also the Ottoman Empire tried to expand the empire to make it bigger as well. There wasn't any religious wars carried out the Ottoman Empire, and answer B does not make sense. Where in the passage does it say about those two empires having efforts of doing mass conversions. Look at Source 2. Sorry if this explanation is long, but I hope this helps :)
