The US got involved in Vietnam War because of their foreign policy of containment. This idea was focused on stopping the spread of communism on a global scale. In Vietnam, North Vietnam (a communist country) was threatening to over take South Vietnam (a democratic country). So the United States sent their military into help.

The fighting in Vietnam was not ideal for the American military. This is because the Viet Cong (North Vietnamese military) was not the standard military. They did not dress in uniform and used guerilla warfare tactics to keep the American military off balance. After almost a decade of involvement , the US implemented a policy of Vietnamization. This resulted in the gradual withdrawal of US troops under the Presidency of Richard Nixon.

What reasons does lincoln give for hating the principle of popular sovereignty?
makvit [3.9K]
Lincoln hated popular sovereignty because it was used to have power over slaves. It was intended to support the people from having their slaves and bringing them to different places that they wanted without any restrictions. It ties the slaves to an obligation of having a master.  It was a confused principle used to justify slavery.

In Washington’s Farewell Address, he urged the nation to
lys-0071 [83]

Answer:

In Washington's Farewell Address, he urged the nation to avoid forming political parties, avoid creating strong political bonds with foreign countries, and to build trading relationships with other countries.

Explanation:

On July 4, 1776, the United States declared its independence. George Washington, commander in chief of the revolutionary Continental Army in the American War of Independence, was the main architect of the construction of the democratic foundations of the new nation and was soon anointed as the country's first president. At the end of his term, in September 1796, Washington gave the people of the United States a farewell address with recommendations and warnings for their fellow citizens.

The Washington Farewell Speech was an introduction to republican virtue and a severe warning against partisanship, sectoralization and participation in wars abroad, issues that today are not largely respected by the country's politicians.
