 The first attack happened in 1969, when American bombers were directed to Cambodia to flush out suspected communist camps from the country, and disrupt secret supply lines for the North Vietnam communist. However, the decision angered Beijing leading to increased tensions between the USA and China. the attack also served to fuel anti-war sentiments back in the USA.
