A newspaper criticized the Louisiana purchase saying "we are to give money of which we have too little for land of which we have too little for land of which we already have too much". Was the purchase a good idea?

The purchase was indeed a good idea because, our country wouldn't have been this big if we didn't buy it. Plus That was a lot of land for pretty cheap price.
