Dr. Collins used facts—the known symptoms of concussions—to build and design his tool. He needed to obtain knowledge of the effect of concussions on the brain and people’s responses to cognitive exercises. He realized that there was a gap in the current treatment of concussions. Many athletes don’t take the injury seriously, or they delay treatment, which can cause long-term damage. Dr. Collins’s new tool detects the possibility of an injury and also monitors recovery. So, it fills a need in the treatment of concussions.

Critical thinking is an essential process for the safe, efficient and skillful nursing practice. The nursing education programs should adopt attitudes that promote critical thinking and mobilize the skills of critical reasoning.
