The Romans strength at that time was on land but they had to fight on sea. So they worked hard to build as much ships as possible. The rigged the ships with gangplanks so that they could the can overwhelm the Carthaginians. After many battles the Romans won the first Punic War and managed to divide Sicily with Carthaginians.

Over many years the Carthaginians grew a powerful army. The Carthaginians had an amazing general his name was Hannibal. Hannibal realized that Romans thought of Carthage as a naval power, would expect an invasion by sea. He knew that the Romans would be ready to defend Italy’s coast against an attacking Carthaginians fleet. Hannibal decided to attack Roman from the north by land. Hannibal led 50000 troops, 9000 horses and 37 elephants. When Hannibal troops approached Italy but before they could march along the south peninsula they would have to a` face a horrible mountain range called Alps. When they crossed the Alps they lost they half of there army and most of there elephants a long the way. Hannibal’s army was undeterred and they had won many battles. The Romans suffered many defeats but they did not give up easy. They went to attack Hannibal’s homeland and Hannibal rushed to defend his homeland. A Roman army defeated Hannibal, A year later the war came to an end with Rome victorious.

For a long time the Rome and Carthage were at peace. The third Punic war stared at 150 B.C. The Carthage was getting rich and the Romans felt threatened. "There is nothing that keeps wicked men at any one moment out of hell, but the meer pleasure of God. By the mere Pleasure of God
Anika [276]

Answer:

D) Warn or remind his congregation that the nation as a whole must repent their sins and ask forgiveness from God to escape hell.

Explanation:

Christian Theologian Jonathan Edwards’ sermon "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" presents an appeal to the people of Massachusetts to deviate from their sinful nature and come back to the right and "Christian" way of life. This sermon successfully and profoundly affected the listeners, the congregation with Edwards's 'frightful' presentation of an angry God.

In the given excerpt from the sermon, Edwards presents an image of a God who is fearful of those who choose to deviate from His right ways. In this sermon, Edwards serves a reminder to the people to repent their sinful ways and return to God, or else their fate is to be destroyed and perish eternally in Hell. He warns them to seek forgiveness while there is still time so that they will not be judged by God's wrath.

Thus, the correct answer is option D.
