To find 5/6 of 12, you do 5/6 multiplied by 12

12*5/6 (first multiply 12 by 5 and leave the answer over 6)
60/6 (simplify)
The final answer is 10

Hope this helps!

That answer is correct but another way to look at it is that since 6 goes evenly into 12, multiply the fraction by 2 so you get 10/ 12 so therefore the answer is 10

Explain why 2x^2+18a=10 has no real number solutions
Readme [11.4K]

Answer:

This equation does have real solutions contrary to your question. They are \frac{-9 + \sqrt{101}} {-10} OR \frac{-9 - \sqrt{101}} {-10}.

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to prove this has real number solutions, we simply need to use the quadratic formula. To do this, we first need to solve for 0.

2x^2 + 18x = 10

2x^2 + 18x - 10 = 0

Now that we have this and they are all factors of 2, we can divide everything by 2 for ease.

2x^2 + 18x - 10 = 0

x^2 + 9x - 5 = 0

Now we can use the quadratic equation to solve. Remember that A = 1 due to the coefficient of x^2, B = 9 as the coefficient of x and C = -5 as the constant.

\frac{-b +/- \sqrt{b^{2} - 4ac}}  {2a}

\frac{-9 +/- \sqrt{9^{2} - 4(1)(-5)}}  {2(-5)}

\frac{-9 +/- \sqrt{81 + 20}}  {-10}

\frac{-9 +/- \sqrt{101}}  {-10}

\frac{-9 + \sqrt{101}}  {-10} OR \frac{-9 - \sqrt{101}}  {-10}

Elsie pays $8.99 for a one-pound canister of Georgia pecans. Write and solve a proportion to determine the cost of 4
ch4aika [34]

Answer:

$ 35.96

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the cost ( in dollars ) of 4 ounces of the pecans,

So, the ratio of the cost and ounces needed = \frac{x}{4}

Also, the cost of 1 ounces of pecans is $ 8.99,

Thus, the ratio of the cost and ounces needed = \frac{8.99}{1}

Hence, we can write,

\frac{x}{4}=\frac{8.99}{1}

Which is the required proportion,

By cross multiplication,

x = 4 × 8.99 = 35.96

Therefore, $ 35.96 is the cost of 4 ounces of the pecans.

jakes map shows the distance from the bake stars cafe to the restaurant supply store as 3 centimeters. if the scale of the map i
Mila [183]

Answer:

It would be 24 kilometers.

Step-by-step explanation:

This is because 1 centimeter on the map equals 8 kilometers in real life.

Since the cafe's distance is 3 centimeters, it would be 24 kilometers.

<em>3 * 1 = 3 centimeters</em>

<em>3 * 8 = 24 kilometers</em>
