Pangaea was a supercontinent. This enormous continent was consisted of all continental masses on Earth that merged together in the late Paleozoic era, around 335 million years ago. Pangaea lasted until the early Mesozoic era, breaking apart roughly around 175 million years ago. From the breaking apart of this supercontinent there were two large masses that formed, Laurasia on the north, and Gondwanaland on the south. As these two remnants of Pangaea continued to break apart, the modern day continents started to form and slowly started to give the planet the appearance that we see in the present.

Yuki888 [10]

Answer:

Simple cell

Explanation:

Simple cells are found in primary visual cortex and are made up of large number of receptive fields from neurons and the respond to light at specific Orientation and oriented edges. The cells were discovered by Torsten Wiesel and David Hubel in the late 1950s. The simple cells respond to stimuli with some particular orientations to objects within their receptive fields. Receptive fields comprises of sensory receptors in the sensory neurons that draw out neurosonal responses when there are stimulated

Hemophilia and ________ are two common sex-linked conditions.
Ainat [17]

Answer:

Hemophilia and color blindness are two common sex-linked conditions.

Explanation:

In humans, certain hereditary defects are linked to the X chromosome. The most important ones are colour blindness and haemophilia. Haemophilia is a serious disease in which blood take an abnormally long time to clot which leads to uncontrolled bleeding.

Is the blood pressure measured in the calf larger or smaller than the blood pressure measured on the upper arm?
lana66690 [7]
The blood pressure measured in the calf is lower than it is in the arm. Blood pressure in the body is highest right at the ascending arch of the aorta. From that point, the pressure decreases as blood moves "distally" from the heart. Purely mechanically, legs are farther away from the heart than are the arms, thus pressure is less.

La Niña is a naturally occurring climate phenomenon located over the tropical Pacific Ocean and results from
grigory [225]

La Niña is a naturally occurring climate phenomenon located over the tropical Pacific Ocean and results from interactions between the ocean surface and the atmosphere. During La Niña, eastern central Pacific Ocean temperatures influence global weather patterns.

a. La Nina means continued drought for Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico.

b. Calls for an Atlantic hurricane season.

c. In 2011 La Nina contributed to record winter snowfall, spring flooding, and drought across the United States, as well as other extreme weather events throughout the world, such as heavy rain in Australia and an extremely dry equatorial Eastern Africa.

Explanation:

El nino (warm phase) and La nino (cold phase) are the strange weather patterns arising from undue variations in temperatures of the ocean along the equatorial Pacific Ocean.

La nina occurs along the Eastern Pacific Ocean and usually after an El nino event. Pressure variations occurring in the equatorial easterly trade winds fluctuates the eastern and western Pacific Ocean’s pressure. This pressure variations leads to upwelling of ocean water that pushes the colder water towards west by the easterly trade winds.

La nina climatic effects include severe increase or decrease in temperature, drought, fluctuations in precipitation levels affecting agriculture and food production.

La nina brings in undue changes like flooding during spring, extreme drought or heavy winter snowfall at different places unusually.

The 2011 La nina event was highly remarkable since it caused a series of changes in the climatic weather pattern causing severe drought in places like Texas, Oklahama, and New Mexico, heavy rain in Australia, dry Eastern Africa. This also triggers hurricanes in Atlantic Ocean.

All these events are due to drifting of cold waters towards west and prevalence of dryness in the eastern parts of the Pacific Ocean .
