Diffraction occurs when a wave moves through an opening in a barrier. This causes the wave to change direction and spread out.

Waves can behave in three different ways depending on the obstacles they encounter. They can reflect, refract or diffract. In diffraction, waves such as sound, light or water either bend around small objects that obstruct their passage or spread out as they travel through a gap in the barrier.

The degree of diffraction forms a direct relationship with wavelength. It generally increases as wavelength increases. Conversely, the amount of bending lessens as wavelength decreases. However, if the opening of the barrier is smaller than the wavelength, the effect of diffraction is not easily observed. Hope this helps.

18.Substrate-level phosphorylation
77julia77 [94]

Answer:

(B) Energy released from the chemical reaction is used to directly phosphorylate ADP.

(D) Energy released from the chemical reaction is used to directly reduce NAD+

Explanation:

phosphorylation is a addition of phosphoryl group to an organic compound.Substrate level phosphorylation is a process where there is ATP is produced from ADP by transferring a high energy phosphate group from phosphorylated metabolic compound. This process occurs in glycolysis and citric acid cycle.and this pathway is exergonic pathway

For many years, scientists believed that almost all animal lineages burst into being during the Cambrian era (just after the end
frosja888 [35]

Answer:

Option (A)

Explanation:

The Precambrian represents the time period, right from the beginning of the earth to about 540 million years back. It is divided into 3 parts, namely the Hadean, the Archean and the Proterozoic. Throughout this geological time, vast changes have taken place on earth. The first life forms of about 3.8 billion years old, that existed on earth were the simple unicellular organisms, whose traces were only found at some particular places. These organisms were very small and are comprised of soft bodies, so they were affected by the earth's dynamic processes. The organisms in order to get fossilized must contain hard parts. Due to the presence of soft bodies, the organisms were not fossilized and so it took a long time to demarcate that the late Precambrian organisms were animal-like life.

hence, the correct answer is option (A).

How do enzymes catalyze chemical reactions (don't just say "they lower the activation energy", give me specific mechanisms)?
Rina8888 [55]
They do lower the activation energy but they provide an alternate pathway for the reaction to happen quicker and they do not get used up in the reaction
