Answer: Fluorescence microscope

Explanation:

The basic function of a fluorescence microscope is to irradiate the specimen with a desired and specific band of wavelengths. A fluorescence microscope uses a mercury or xenon lamp to produce ultraviolet light. The light comes into the microscope and hits a dichroic mirror. The dichroic mirror reflects the ultraviolet light up to the specimen. The ultraviolet light excites fluorescence within molecules in the specimen. The objective lens collects the fluorescent-wavelength light produced. This fluorescent light passes through the dichroic mirror and a barrier filter, making it to the eyepiece to form the image.

Life-History evolution in guppies (Poecilia reticulata: Poeciliidae). V. Genetic basis of parallelism in life histories.

We present genetic evidence for the convergence of life histories in guppies from high- and low-predation areas on Trinidad's Northern Range Mountains. In earlier research, we demonstrated that guppies from high-predation locations on the south slope reached maturity at an earlier age and were smaller in size. They also had more, smaller offspring in each litter and expended more energy reproducing than their counterparts from low-predation locations. Predators from the fauna of continental South America can be found on the south slope. The north slope drainages are devoid of these predators, and they have been replaced by species that are descended from the sea fauna. However, it seems that there is a similar discrepancy between places with high and low levels of predation.
