A poll found that a particular group of people read an average of 15.7 books per year. The pollsters are 99% confident that the

result from this poll is off by fewer than 2.65 books from the actual average x. Express this situation as an inequality involving absolute value, and solve the inequality for x to determine the interval in which the average is likely to fall.

<h2>Answer with explanation:</h2>

Given : A poll found that a particular group of people read an average of 15.7 books per year.

i.e. \mu=15.7

The pollsters are 99% confident that the result from this poll is off by fewer than 2.65 books from the actual average x.

i.e. E= 2.65

The confidence interval for population mean is given by :-

|\mu-x|\leq E

Hence, the required inequality involving absolute value for  : |15.7-x|\leq 2.65

To solve this inequality for x, we have

\ 15.7-2.65\leq x\leq15.7+2.65\\\\\Rightarrow\ 13.05\leq x\leq18.35

Hence,  the interval in which the average is likely to fall :

13.05\leq x\leq18.35

Y = -9x - 2; (4, -37)
Karo-lina-s [1.5K]

Answer:

B. No the ordered pair does not satisfy the equation

Step-by-step explanation:

y = -9x - 2

Substitute the point in and see if it is true

-37 = -9(4) -2

-37 = -36 -2

-37 = -38

This is not true so the point is not a solution

What is the derivative of 4pi and why?
Diano4ka-milaya [45]
<span>Answer: The derivative of 4pi (4π) is simply zero. In Calculus, the process of differentiation is taking the limit of the given as the change with respect to a certain variable approaches zero. The derivative indicates the slope of a given function, the rate of change with respect to small increments to a reference axis or variable. As our given, 4π, is simply a constant, it does not change with respect to any infinitesimal increment to any variable; thus its derivative is zero.</span>
