It is given in the question that, The area of ava rectangular back yard is 325 square yards and the length of the yards is 13 yards.

Let the width be w yard .

And area of rectangle is the product of length and width .

So we have

325 = 13 w

Dividing both sides by w

\frac{325}{13} = \frac{13w}{13} => w = 25 yards .

So the width is 25 yards .

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

y=-x^{2} -5x-6

y=-(x^2+5x+6)

y=-(x+3)(x+2)

Set each factors equal to zero.

(x+3)=0 ,  x=-3

x+2=0  ,   x=-2

George bought 7 quarts of cleaning fluid: x quarts at $3.00 per quart & y quarts at $2.00 per quart. Find x & y if the t
PolarNik [594]

Answer:

3x + 2y = 16

x = 2 , y = 5

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that George bought x quarts at $3.00 per quart & y quarts at $2.00 per quart and he bought 7 quarts for $16.00

Considering the total cost

3x + 2y = 16

For the cost of each

x + y = 7

solving the 2 equations simultaneously be substitution

x = 7 - y

3(7 - y) + 2y = 16

21 - 3y + 2y = 16

-3y + 2y = 16 - 21

-y = - 5

Divide both sides by -1

y = 5

x = 7 -y

x = 7 - 5

= 2

8. Suppose y varies directly as x. If y = -4 when x = 32, find x when ys -0.
Nata [24]

Answer:

x=0

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

A relationship between two variables, x, and y, represent a proportional variation if it can be expressed in the form y/x=k or y=kx

in this problem

For x=32, y=-4

Find the value of the constant of proportionality k

k=y/x

substitute

k=-\frac{4}{32}

simplify

k=-\frac{1}{8}

so

The linear equation is

y=-\frac{1}{8}x

Find x when the value of y=0

Remember that

In a proportional relationship <u><em>the line passes through the origin</em></u>

so

If y=0

then

the value of x must be equal to zero

therefore

x=0
