To solve, use the substitution method.

4x + 5y = -12

Move the variable to the right and change sign.

4x = -12 - 5

Divide both sides of the equation by 4.

x = -3 - 5/4y

Substitute the given value of x into the lower equation.

-2 (-3 - 5/4y) + 3y = -16

Distribute -2 through the parenthesis.

6 + 5/2y + 3y = -16

Add like terms.

6 + 11/2y = -16

Use inverse operations to multiply both sides by 2.

12 + 11y = -32

Move the constant to the right side.

11y = -32 - 12

Solve.

11y = -44

Divide both sides by 11.

<u>y = -4</u> (your answer)

Help me with question 41
Brut [27]
Question says she can work a maximum of 60 hours per week.
the w-axis is for TOTAL WEEKLY earnings, which includes the 40 hours she worked before

all of the graphs have their horizontal axes labeled as "number of hours worked over 40"

so you HAVE to stop at 20 hours worked over 40 hours, otherwise she will work over 60.

so we can ignore choices C and B because they go 40 hours worked over 40 hours, which would have a total of 80 hours of work

the "w"-intercept here is $250, no problems there (since u get $250 per week for working 40 hours... these graphs are only concerned with hrs after 40 so by default she already has 250 for these graphs)

if she has $10 per hour, then the slope is $10/hour
(slope is rise/run. if we run for 1 hour, we have to rise $10, hence slope being $10/1 hour)

the equation for this is

w = 10h + 250

so after working for 40 hrs, if she works for 20 hours more, we plug in h=20

w = 10(20)+ 250
   = 200 + 250
   = 450

so there should be point (20, 450) on the graph

Write the base and power of each of the following exponent.<br>(-23/56)^6
gayaneshka [121]

Answer:

-191.10

Step-by-step explanation:

When you divide 56/23 you get 2.4, 2.4 is negative.

Multiply 2.4 6 times

&

2.4^6.

You get -191.10.

I am probably wrong but I tried.

47. Which of the following represents 0.2% of 1/5?
erica [24]

First think of what 0.2% is as a fraction,

0.2\%=\frac{0.2}{100}=\frac{2\cdot10^{-1}}{10^2}=\frac{2}{10^3}=\frac{2}{1000}

Now multiply the fraction by a fifth,

\frac{2}{1000}\cdot\frac{1}{5}=\frac{2}{5000}

Which then simplifies to,

\frac{2}{5000}=\boxed{\frac{1}{2500}}

Hope this helps :)
