MasterCard's "priceless" campaign was introduced in 1997, and later on a new campaign appeared, called "Priceless Cities". In the campaign, the company appealed to the consumers' emotions by stressing  how important intangible experiences are, even in today's consumerist societies. Of course, the company tied these intangible experiences with tangible ones, things that you could buy with MasterCard, and which would give you the opportunity to experience what "money can't buy". With "Priceless cities" the company went even further, associating those emotions with particular places, giving the consumer a feeling of belonging and pertinence, through the use of the credit card.

Mastercard is an American financial services corporation whose main activity is the issue of credit through credit cards. These cards can be used by Mastercard cardholders in any commercial establishment that operates a Mastercard POS or "Point of Sale" (a device in which processes credit card payments) or through the internet.

Mastercard's "priceless cities" campaign is one of the most successful marketing campaigns in modern history. It uses techniques of "emotional marketing", which is a category of marketing which focuses on appealing to a consumer's psychological background. Mastercard made the consumer remember things which he or she actually values that go beyond the economy. This was highly successful as consumers were motivated by satisfying their emotional needs, putting completely aside from any limit that they could have imposed themselves regarding expenditures

1) Can you see any features that might indicate that this house was built by a Cherokee? In what ways do you think the design of
AlladinOne [14]

The house has no features to show that it was built by a Cherokee. This design reflects the attitude of Ridge that had adapted to the American way of life by abandoning indigenous customs.

Major Ridge (1771 - 1839) was a Cherokee leader who was noted for:

  • He was a member of the tribal council and legislator.
  • He supported acculturation.
  • He became a wealthy planter, slave owner, and boatman in Georgia.
  • He signed the passage of the controversial New Echota Treaty of 1835, which handed over the Cherokee territory to the United States government.
  • He was sentenced to death and murdered in 1839 under the Cherokee Blood Act.

Regarding the house Ridge lived in, it is a two-story white log home located on his 223-acre plantation on Cha.tillon, Rome, Georgia.

This house differs greatly from the structure of the traditional houses of the Cherokee culture because they were built in the shape of a pyramid with a circular base covered with leather made from animal skins.
