Which of the following sentences has a correct signal phrase for the book The Nasty Bits written by author Anthony Bourdain? Que
wariber [46]

The best signal phrase is In The Nasty Bits, chef Anthony Bourdain states, “Perhaps the best thing chefs can do is cook, whenever possible, with heart” (40)

In formal writing, signal phrases are phrases and words used to introduce a quotation. This commonly includes the first name and last name of the author and an introductory word such as states, thinks, asserts, claims, etc. Also, details such as the profession of the author and the title of the book, article, etc. can be included.

In this context, the best phrase is option B, these are the reasons:

  • This is the only one that includes the name and last name of the author (Anthony Bourdain)
  • It includes the word "states" that is appropriate for the quote
  • It has complementary information such as the title of the book "The Nasty Bits" and the profession "chef" that make the signal phrase to be complete

For the quote “Where there is love there is life” list a main interpretation and 3 selections(reasons) following it.
JulijaS [17]

Answer:

This can honestly mean a lot of things.

Some people feel that their main point in life is to do what they love. (Career, hobby, etc) Other's are still here and happy because of a person that they love. For some, it's the person they love that is the reason they want to be alive. You can't have life without love, because with no love means no happiness and no will to live. Even the people who are genuinely struggling and want to die still have something blocking them from causing any harm. Think about it, love is the main purpose. It's behind almost every story. In the Hunger Games, Katniss risked her life and purpose for her little sister Prim. I think love is the main purpose for the reason that humans are still on this earth today. "Where there is love, there is life," is 100% accurate, and learned from observing or experience.

A RAISION IN THE SUN
Pavel [41]

Beneatha believes that she has the ability to change her life and achieve her dreams. She does not believe that women should be limited to domestic services, they do not need a husband to live, nor are they obliged to start a family. This can be seen when she states that she wants to be a doctor and that marriage is not a priority in her life. She wants to grow professionally first and be independent, as she believes that all women should be.

Ruth and Lena, have more traditional and conservative thoughts about the role of women in society. This is shown when they put themselves in situations where men are exalted and do not bother to be limited to domestic services where men are served by women, who care only for the home and any children. They also believe that the greatest ambition a woman can have is to find a husband who can support her and put a roof over her head.
