Answer:

Lets suppose this number is recurring, then we can prove.

x=0.045 (45 is recurring)

10x=0.45 (45 is recurring)

=> 100x =4.54 (54 is recurring)

=> 1000x= 45.45 (45 is recurring)

We will subtract 1000x-10x to get rid of the decimals:

1000x-10x = 45.45-0.45

990x =45

=> x =45/990

Dividing by 5

=>x= 9/198

Now dividing by 9

x =1/22

Hence, proved.

The least decimal place in 0.045 is found in the thousandths place. Thus, if expressed as a fraction, it would be 45/1000. Let's substitute this to the equation:

x = 45/1000
1000x = 45
(1000/45)x = 1

When you divide 1000 by 45, the quotient would be 22.2222222... This could be round to the nearest whole number which is 22. Then,

22x = 1
x = 1/22

I hope I was able to answer your question. Have a good day.

What number needs to be added to 5 and 3 so that the ratio of the first number to the second
Mashcka [7]

Answer:

3

Step-by-step explanation:

Choose a variable to represent the number to be added to 5 and 3.

\frac{5+x}{3+x}=\frac{4}{3}

"Cross-multiply."

3(5+x)=4(3+x)\\\\15+3x=12+4x\\\\15=12+x\\\\3=x

Check:  The ratio of 5+3 to 3 + 3 is 8:6, equal to the ratio 4:3.

Express the edge length of a cube as a function of the cube's diagonal length d. Then express the surface area & volume of t
Lorico [155]
D = sqrt(3s^2) where s is the length of the side. Solving for s,

<span>3s^2 = d^2 iff </span>
<span>s^2 = d^2 / 3 iff </span>
<span>s = sqrt(d^2 / 3) </span>
<span>= d / sqrt(3) or d sqrt(3) / 3 </span>

<span>Surface area of the cube = 6 s^2. Thus, </span>
<span>A = 6 (d / sqrt(3))^2 </span>
<span>= 6d^2 / 3 </span>
<span>= 2d^2 </span>

<span>Volume = s^3. Thus, </span>
<span>V = (d / sqrt(3))^3 </span>
<span>= d^3 / 3sqrt(3) </span>
<span>= d^3 sqrt(3) / 9</span>
