The people do. According to the social contract, people have a figurative contract with the government that was chosen. If the government doesn't abide by it, the people have the power to change the government by the means of an election or anything similar.
<span>The migration of African Americans to other lands in search of freedom during the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries was an expression of their belief that they would never achieve a position of true equality in the United States. The only solution to this problem, they felt, was to establish separate, self-governing societies or nations. Though migrants found their way to Canada, Haiti, the West Indies, and Mexico, Africa was, most often, the refuge of choice. The Magna Carta established that “no one, not even the king is above the law.” Magna Carta also means the Great Charter, and it also guarantees the rights of individuals, right to justice and the right to a fair trial. These rights are also implemented into the Bill of Rights.
