The equation of both scientists are dependent on one another to get a message across to any life form out there in space is it exists.

Doug Vakochs' equation focuses on the message that would most likely communicate intelligibly to Aliens whilst Philip Lubin's equation focuses on how the message will get to it's intended destination.
