In the book  Jane Eyre, written by Charlotte Brontë,

Rosamond was angry at St. John because he had feelings for her, but he wasn't interested in marrying her, St. John is in love with her and he doesn't hide it, but he refuses to act on his feelings, and  Rosamond pouts about this.

The major reason why St. John refused to marry her was because she wouldn’t make a good missionary wife, BUT Rosamond kept hoping that St. John will ask her to marry him, but eventually, she takes a reasonable approach, gives up, and marries someone else.

Answer:

B. Separation of Powers.

Explanation:

It is very important that the powers of the executive branch and of the President of the USA are defined. If it is not defined, we would have to answer the question "Who should be the commander-in-chief?" Congress? Chief Justice? The Joint Chiefs of Staff? The mayor of Washington D.C.? By clearly establishing the responsibility of the president as commander-in-chief , the Constitution´s fathers followed the principle of the separation of powers.
