From his description, Hemmingway aware that a hero indeed always have to carry a heavy burden so the common people could remain safe.
But succumbing to the pressure would only clouded a hero's judgement and create a sense of worry among the common people. Because of this,  a hero has to exhibit grace under pressure.</span>
