Creatine phosphate, CP is a small source of energy which depletes ver fast but is backed up by ATP storage. This is why they are used in very low exercises that is, it can be resynthesized to ATP by the enzyme creatine kinase to replenish depleted ATP levels.

But the major sources of energy during exercise are carbohydrates and fats.

During the medium to low intensity exercise, the bulk of energy required by the muscle is provided by oxidation of fatty acids while for high intensity exercises, carbohydrates are needed so as to be broken down to give glycogen with the generation of ATP.
