Shakespeare is different from other playwrights for so many reasons. First of all, the level of his language and structure is far superior to other writers; his use of iambic pentameter-varied with other meters to show class or character-is usually textbook. Also, he wrote for the people. He used common themes and didn't make the audience rely on previous knowledge of history or events or people, which made his plays reach a wider audience and it's why they still are widely read and performed today.
