The effects that the introduction of mechanical farming equipment had on rural areas were highly positive. It brought a great increase in the farm productivity.

Mechanical farming is the utilization of mechanised agricultural machinery in replacement of manual or animal labour. It made it possible to plant and harvest much larger areas at a much faster speed rate, with the lowest cost of production.

Before Mechanical farming, farmers had to manually plant and harvest their crops. Sometimes they used the help of the animals. Some of the tools they used to use were pitchforks and ploughs.

The Industrial Revolution, which took place between 1760 and 1820, allowed farming and agriculture to be much less labour-intensive processes. Some of the new tools that farmers began to use were the tractors, trucks, combine harvesters, and even aeroplanes for crop dusting.

All of these advances in technology helped make so much produce that it generated a surplus. There were excessive amounts of produce, higher than the amount that the population could consume. As a result of this, the goods began to be exported in international trade to other countries, and created commercial relationships among the countries involved. This, of course, had a positive impact on the exporting country's economy.

To summarize, the introduction of new technology and machinery for agriculture and farming, not only helped make the work less brutal for the farmers and animals, but also had a huge and positive impact on the economy. Social and economic changes were associated with this new way of farming.
