It was Khufu, the son of Snofru who was able to build the Great Pyramid of Giza which is included in the seven wonders of the world. The Great Pyramid of Giza was 480 feet high which is said to be a staircase to reach the stars.
Imhotep was the one originally credited with the idea to create such a monument to a king. Imhotep was an Egyptian chancellor who is believed to have been the architect of the Djoser's step pyramid. Step pyramids were the earliest type of Egyptian pyramid, and this one in particular was meant to be a tomb for the pharaoh, Djoser. It was composed of six increasingly smaller mastabas, one on top of another.
The war ended in Spring, 1865. Robert E. Lee surrendered the last major Confederate army to Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Courthouse on April 9, 1865.
