When an ANOVA comparing the means of 3 groups indicates that at least one group is different from the others, a common follow-up

analysis to determine which group(s) is (are) different is pairwise two-sample t-tests each assessed using i) the pooled standard deviation when calculating the standard error for the difference in means and ii) a Bonferonni-corrected alpha level of 0.0167 to control the type I error rate for the overall inference to 5% .

Answer:

ii) a Bonferonni-corrected alpha level of 0.0167 to control the type I error rate for the overall inference to 5% .

Step-by-step explanation:

Previous concepts

Analysis of variance (ANOVA) "is used to analyze the differences among group means in a sample".

The sum of squares "is the sum of the square of variation, where variation is defined as the spread between each individual value and the grand mean"

The hypothesis for this case are:

Null hypothesis: \mu_{A}=\mu_{B}=\mu_{C}

Alternative hypothesis: Not all the means are equal \mu_{i}\neq \mu_{j}, i,j=A,B,C

Since we reject the null hypothesis we want to see which method it's the best to determine which group(s) is (are) different is pairwise two-sample t-tests each assessed using.

And on this case the best option is:

ii) a Bonferonni-corrected alpha level of 0.0167 to control the type I error rate for the overall inference to 5% .

The reason is because the Bonferroni correction "compensates for that increase by testing each individual hypothesis at a significance level of \alpha who represent the desired overall alpha level and m is the number of hypotheses". For our case m=3 hypotheses with a desired \alpha = 0.05, then the Bonferroni correction would test each individual hypothesis at 0.05/3=0.0167

One advatange of this method is that "This method not require any assumptions about dependence among the p-values or about how many of the null hypotheses are true" . And is more powerful than the individual paired t tests.

A plane flew for 5 hours heading west and for 4 hours heading south. If the total distance traveled was 3,444 miles, and the pla
Ganezh [65]

Answer:400 miles per hour

Step-by-step explanation:

Let w = speed at which the plane travelled west

Let s = speed at which the plane travelled south

Distance moved in 5 hrs heading west = 5*w = 5w

Distance moved in 4 hrs heading south = 4*s = 4s

Total distance, 3444= 5w + 4s

w = s + 39( 39 miles/hr faster)

5(s+39) + 4s = 3444

5s + 195 + 4s = 3444

9s = 3249

s = 361 miles per hour

w = s + 39 = 361 +39

= 400 miles per hour

find the equation of a line that is parallel to the straight line 2x-y=-3 and crosses the x-axis at x=-5
Alecsey [184]

Answer:

y=2x+10

Step-by-step explanation:

In line equations its helpful to write your line in the form y = ax + b. This helps because a is always the gadient of the line and b is always the y intercept.

In this case it is y=2x+3

All parallel lines have the same gradient. The gradient of this line = 2.

If the line crosses the x axis at x=-5, then when x =-5 y = 0.

If you put all this in the form y =ax + b you get 0 = 2(-5) +b

So all you need to do to find b is rearrange. b = 10.

Therefore your line has gradient 2 and y intercept 10.

y = 2x + 10

- x² - 4x + 12 = 0 <br>how do u solve by completing the square
MrRa [10]

Answer:

0

Step-by-step explanation:

Simplifying

x2 + -4x + -12 = 0

Reorder the terms:

-12 + -4x + x2 = 0

Solving

-12 + -4x + x2 = 0

Solving for variable 'x'.

Factor a trinomial.

(-2 + -1x)(6 + -1x) = 0
